I tried the Keto Egg fast twice. Once for 3 days, (waited 2 days) then again for 5 days. My results were amazing!
Part 1: Three Day Egg Fast.
Let me tell you about the amazing egg fast that helps break weight loss stalls.
I have been following the Ketogenic Diet for about 10 months now, and have lost almost 25 pounds. (Keto Cheesecake Story Here)
Lately, I have felt like I needed a boost with my weight loss, and I came across the ‘3 day egg fast’.
Now, I eat eggs every single morning, it’s the first thing I have eaten every day for the past 15 years (excluding pregnancies where I thought I needed carbs first thing).
But I can only handle one meal of eggs a day. Really.
So I was worried about doing this fast, but in the end, it was only 3 days. I can gag down eggs for 3 days. . . Right?
Prepare To Track Your Weight Loss: Before starting any diet, I have to track it in order to know if it works, and you should to! This is as easy as keeping a blank paper by your scale, and writing down your daily weight. If you want to be a little more organized, grab this WEIGHT LOSS TRACKER that I use from ETSY. It has 8 options depending on your goal, with tracking papers for 1 and 2 weeks, then going up to 60 days! This is essential to my success! Use the code WEIGHTLOSS and you can get it for less than 2 bucks. . . Totally worth it!
The basic rules for the keto egg fast are:
- Eat 6-10 eggs a day.
- 1 Tablespoon of fat per 1 egg.
- Up to 1 oz. of cheese per egg (optional).
- Some seasonings are allowed.
- Eat nothing else for the 3 (or 5) days.
Did you know that eggs are considered a lean protein? and because of this, we need to make sure we are adding some healthy fats in with our eggs. Which is what the fat and cheese do. (I’ve learned I can add a little less fat per egg and still lose weight and feel fine). If you can handle 3 days, try extending it and make it a full 4 day egg fast.
Phase 1: Three Day Egg Fast.
The first day of my egg diet plan wasn’t bad. I ate 2 scrambled eggs with 2 Tbsp of butter.
Then I boiled 8 eggs (make perfect hard boiled eggs Here) and made egg salad with approved mayo, a bit of mustard, garlic, and salt, then topped it with a slice of cheese.
Good thing this isn’t called the ‘boiled egg diet’ or I would be in trouble! Because it got a little rough eating so much egg salad by the end of the day. . . especially when I ran out of mayo. I don’t think I will have any more boiled eggs.
The second day I had to have a new plan. I found this recipe for cinnamon egg muffins.
But I modified it a little bit- I put about 12 drops of monkfruit in it instead of the syrup. I put mine in a square glass pan instead of muffin tins, and cooked it a little longer, 20-25 minutes. Then I cut it into 6 sections, and ate 1 piece every 2-3 hours during the day.
Note: I now made a quick microwave version that still counts as an egg diet fast. 90 second cheesecake.
So GOOD!
The 3rd day I did the exact same thing as the 2nd.. Not egg-y in the least! And actually, even if I’m not officially doing the egg fast, I would still use the recipe to have a great on-hand snack.
These were my numbers for the 3 days:
Starting weight: 159.4 lbs
After 1 day: 158.8 lbs.
2 days:: 157.0 lbs.
3 days: 156.4 lbs.
I was hoping for better numbers, since my weight has been fluctuating between 156 to 159, it wasn’t as impressive as I had hoped.
Getting into Keto Fast
I had cake and ice cream 2 days before for my son’s birthday, so I started the egg fast out of Ketosis.(which is why I started in the higher numbers) but what was impressive to me, was that I jumped into Keto by the 3rd day!
I have done Keto long enough that I know it usually takes me 13 days to get back into Ketosis after I go out of it.
3 days instead of 13 days!
But this wasn’t just ‘traces’ (I use this breathalyzer that measures ketones) this was solid into Ketosis! YAY!
I had read before that it can be used to speed up the process and I’m pretty pleased that it helped me.
Also, by the 3rd day I was sooo happy!
I was happy about my body, my life, my kids, my home, my husband, my friends. . . it was as if nothing could get me down!
I have noticed this feeling comes around when I don’t have any sugar in my system, so that’s pretty darn great too.
For the rest of the week i will eat normal Keto, then on Monday I am going to try the egg fast for 5 days.
Part 2: 5 Day Egg Fast.
Okay! 5 day Egg Fast is going on right now!
Journal Entry Tuesday: “I started Monday at 155.0 pounds. That’s right, I lost another pound doing normal Keto for 3 days.
I have never been so excited about 5 days before! I want it to go by faster, all that I can think of is how I’m losing fat right now!
And I can’t wait to weigh myself tomorrow. I’m still going strong with the cinnamon egg bake. The 5th day I will be going on a 10 hour drive, but I’m pretty sure it can travel well.”
Wednesday: “I could hardly get it all down at the end of the day. . . And I’ve committed for 2 more days! But I’ve almost completely flown through the 150s, so I can keep going.”
Check out my hot and amazing Keto Egg Diet before and after pictures!
Final day!
“151.8 lbs!!!!! This makes me so happy!
I have a wedding in a couple of days, and I’m looking good in the dress I bought for it!”
Update:
Apparently I ordered the wrong color of blue for the dress, so I wore a different dress… but it doesn’t change how good I look!

Good Quality Ingredients
Here’s the thing though. I could hardly take the final two days of eating the cinnamon bake thing. I was forcing myself to eat it, my gag reflexes were on high alert!
But I was able to do it one more time, the day before the wedding, I used my sister-in-law’s ingredients.
And oh my heck! It tasted sooo much better! Who knew better quality coconut oil and cinnamon could make such a difference?!
I used regular Wal-Mart brand for my ingredients, but my sister-in-law had some awesome stuff from Costco instead.
But this coconut oil and this cinnamon is pretty good too.
This is the monkfruit I used (I used anywhere from 12-18 drops)
In the end I’m giving the egg fast 2 thumbs way up!
The 3 day egg fast will be used more often by me for sure!
If I can modify this a little bit. . . Use less fats (that is what made me want to gag after a few days), and find a bit more variety, and making sure I take all the essential vitamins and minerals I’m missing out on, I bet I could do A 30 day egg diet. And the cool thing is that I would be done! If I could keep getting these kind of results withing a 30 days egg diet, I will have hit my goal weight, and then only have to work on maintenance for the rest of my life. It would be so awesome! Stay tuned for when I try it.

What is "approved mayo?"
tryitdietsisters
Saturday 1st of January 2022
In the keto community, there are strict keto foods, and lazy keto foods. Ideally, when we eat fats, we should be eating 'good fats', like olive oil, butter from grass-fed cows, avocado oil, etc. Most mayonnaise have 'unhealthy fats' like vegetable oil or soybean oil. So most clean keto-ers recommend making your own mayo, or at least buy ones that contain olive oil. I sometimes follow this rule, and sometimes don't. All mayo has low, or no carbs in it, and will keep people in ketosis.

Can avocado be used for the tablespoon of fat per egg?

Technically speaking, No. you shouldn't use avocados in the egg fast. The egg fast is very strict about what is allowed. However, I usually have a day or 2 every week where I only eat eggs. And a couple of weeks ago I had some avocados that needed to be eaten, so I put 1/2 an avocado on 3 eggs in the morning and at night, for 3 days. And I had an extra couple of pounds drop in my weight. So it might be worth giving it a try. If you do, let me know if it helped!
