5 Products to Buy Online Before Starting the Keto Diet.

I found out the hard way that I was not prepared with the right keto products before starting the diet.

I thought that I could just jump right into keto. So I searched and found a simple two-week keto menu, thought it looked good, tried it, and had a miserable 2 weeks.

The keto flu hit me so bad it reminded me of my worst morning sickness.

Part of the problem was that I was not as well-equipped as I should have been

. I thought all I had to buy was some lettuce, chicken, and avocados, and just live off of salad the whole time.

Boy was I wrong! My body rejected how I was eating pretty strongly, even to the point of throwing up one of the days.

I was suffering pretty badly until I discovered fat bombs.

There are a lot of recipes out there, but sadly, the best deals for some of the main ingredients were found online. . . but I needed the stuff NOW!

So trust me when I say, before starting the keto diet, do yourself a favor and get these 5 Keto products online first.

(at least one from each section)

The essentials for a well-stocked keto kitchen

1- Sweetener:

Sweetener is essential when making the transition into ketosis. Your body screams for sweets, and having something on hand can ease the transition.

Monkfruit:  I like to get the drops. They go great in drinks, batters, and fat bombs. It’s all natural, and the Lankanto Brand has sales fairly often where you can get their products for 50% off, if you are patient. This is my most re-bought keto product online.

.

Swerve: Swerve is hands-down everyone’s favorite sweetener. and it comes in a variety of styles, including powdered (Confectioner’s). My sister just buys the granulated and uses an electric coffee mill to make her own powdered sugar.

.

Stevia: Stevia is a natural sweetener that has a ‘cooling’ aftertaste. I personally enjoy the taste, but there are many who don’t like it. The nice thing about the Stevia drops, is that there are all different flavors! They are awesome for making Bullet Proof Hot Chocolate.

  2- Electrolytes:

In order to stay away from the effects of the Keto Flu, you have to keep up your electrolytes. Magnesium, calcium and salt. You can get salt, even pink salt, at any store. The other electrolytes may be harder to find.

Calm with Calcium: It is sweetened with stevia, and fizzes a little, so if you are a soda drinker and miss it, this is a good one for you.

Ultima: This one has a few more vitamins and minerals to it.

3- Keto Tester:  In order for you to know if you have entered into Ketosis, you can use one of two products. Urine strips, or a breath analyzer.

Urine test strips. This is fairly easy to use. and a lot of keto-users prefer the strips

But my favorite is the breath analyzer, mostly because I don’t get pee on my fingers, and it’s the easiest. Anything above .02 means you’re breathing out ketones.

4- Flour:  Flour substitute is huge in the keto world. hardly any good recipe is without almond or coconut flour.

Almond flour: Believe me. You’ll want to get this in bulk. a normal good deal is around 10 dollars a pound. If you find it cheaper than this, grab it quick!

Coconut flour. It’s a big name in many keto recipes. a little of this goes a long way.

5- Keto-friendly “I need to eat something NOW!’ snacks.

And Finally, there will be times when you feel overwhelmed with how much at home cooking is required on a keto diet.

Remember that pretty much any bun-less (and ketchup-less) hamburger at any restaurant will be pretty keto friendly. Also have a few alternative pre-made snacks in stock.

I want to talk a minute about Lily’s Chocolate Chips. I buy mine, and actually put them in the freezer, then take out a small portion (1/4 cup or less) and snack on that when I need to. It is amazing how satisfying such a small amount can be.

Also, there is an amazing ice cream called REBEL, that is completely keto friendly. you probably can find it at a store near you. (check out my post about it here. It includes a link to their store-finder)

The other staples that are good to have around, but you can find easily at your grocery store, are:

Nuts (almonds, pecans, and brazil nuts)

Coconut oil

Butter

Heavy whipping cream

Cheese (cream cheese, mozzarella, cheddar, Parmesan)

Eggs

Fresh green veggies.

I hope this post helps you with all of your preparations to start your keto journey.
