Apple Cider Vinegar For Weight-Loss Review. Our detailed results for when we drank apple cider vinegar for 14 days.
This Apple Cider Vinegar Drink started this whole blog.
I love healthy tips and tricks, I love trying new things, especially small, simple things, that could make my life better.
So it’s not surprising that my Pinterest feed was full of healthy suggestions.
One day it seemed as if the whole screen was taken up on just one subject:
Apple Cider Vinegar. (ACV)
“Easy 7 day apple cider vinegar challenge that works!”
“Take apple cider vinegar for weight loss in 1 week without exercise” 7 day apple cider vinegar challenge apple cider vinegar detox weight loss results
“‘Take it in water’
‘take it with honey and lemon’ ‘
take it with cranberry’
‘with orange juice’
‘with grape juice’
‘in pill form’
“and watch the fat melt away.”
It was pretty clear that this magic vinegar could do wonders. But which way do I take it? And for how long? And what should I expect?
I found one article that claimed that taking Apple Cider Vinegar for 2 weeks could help someone drop up to 20 lbs!
Wow!
Good enough for me.
I’ll do it.
I asked the women in my family if they would be willing to try an experiment with me.
We’d take ACV for 2 weeks, taking it however we want, and we will see which was the best way to lose weight with ACV. And exactly how much you can lose drinking apple cider vinegar.
My sisters are totally awesome and were willing to TRY IT!
And so TRY IT DIET SISTERS was born.

First A Little Apple Cider Vinegar Research
After all. We don’t want to blindly follow what the internet says, right? So what is it about apple cider vinegar that makes it such an amazing weight loss drink?
The science behind why apple cider vinegar is used for weight loss
Sometimes referred to as “Nature’s Medicine,” apple cider vinegar has been around for centuries, and it is now being used by many people to help with weight loss. But how does it work?
Apple cider vinegar is made from apple juice (obviously). When yeast is added, the juice becomes alcohol, and as it goes through a fermentation process, the bacteria turns the alcohol into acetic acid. This is what gives vinegar its sour taste and strong odor.
Acetic acid is what is thought to give apple cider vinegar its health benefits, and what helps people lose weight when they consume it. They have found that if there is acetic acid in the stomach, that it helps pass other fats and starchy foods you eat through your body quicker, so it won’t be absorbed. Good right?

Weight Loss Studies With ACV
Some animal studies show that the animals given apple cider vinegar may have better weight loss and lower blood sugar levels. It has been shown in one study that the rats who were given apple cider vinegar were able to use insulin better.
The research on vinegar’s relationship with weight loss is not conclusive. There are only a few studies that have been done, and they were conducted mainly in mice and rats.
While the studies do show that acetic acid – which is a component of apple cider vinegar- has shown to suppress body fat accumulation among obese rodents, it can’t be said for sure if this is 100% true for humans given the small number of tests available so far.
This small study in Sweden showed that people who were given apple cider vinegar with their meal did have lower levels of insulin and glucose for about 45 minutes after eating and reported to feel fuller and more satisfied from the meal for several hours after they had eaten.
A study that gets cited quite a bit, which was done in Japan, shows that overweight people who were given apple cider vinegar for 12 weeks did lose a modest amount of weight.
So far, the evidence shows that adding apple cider vinegar to your diet will help you lose weight, possibly by keeping your insulin and glucose levels more even, and possibly by helping you feel more full and satiated after meals.
The only way to know for sure if apple cider vinegar will help you lose weight is to do your own experiment and try it out! Start adding it to your diet for the next couple of weeks and track your results.
Quick Facts about Apple Cider Vinegar
So as a quick recap:
Apple Cider Vinegar, especially those that are “with the mother” like this Braggs Product, contains proteins, amino acids, food bacteria, and enzymes.
It is supposed to help with losing weight by cutting down your blood sugar, and helping you feel satiated, so you will naturally eat less calories.
It is supposed to be incredibly helpful to those who have diabetes, or struggle with insulin in any way.
Spoiler alert: it’s sad to say that our first run-through was not as successful as the ACV hype made it out to be.

8 of us took the 2 week Apple Cider Vinegar Challenge:
In order to see if taking it in different ways would lead to different results, we had acv 2 times a day, and had someone take it in tea form, juice form, pill form, and some of us just straight shot guzzled it down. (click on these earlier links for the different products)
and guess what?!
After our 14 day apple cider vinegar challenge, our results were
astoundingly,
disappointingly,
ZERO.
5 out of the 8 of us lost ZERO pounds. 2 of the 4 that lost weight, only lost 1 pound each, which in a world of fluctuating hormones is a negligible number in and of itself.
The one who lost weight combined it with another diet, (Keto-Check out her review) so she doesn’t even know if her weight-loss had anything to do with ACV. . . But ACV is known as helping with the keto flu.
And there were 2 that even gained weight!
Yeah, not good.
We even took apple cider vinegar weight loss before and after pictures. . . But they were basically the same picture. . . so we didn’t bother posting them
It was incredibly disappointing! we were so excited to see our apple cider vinegar detox weight loss results, and guzzling down that sour drink for 14 days seemed such a waste of our taste buds!
But we do have some good news.
We went ahead and asked the eight people for more feedback than just their weight number, and here is that they said:

Benefits of ACV
We were surprised to find that many found other benefits by taking ACV.
- benefits including:
- Increased regularity,
- less bloating (one had a 3 inch loss around belly despite not losing weight, her story here),
- heartburn relief,
- clear skin,
- pink tongue,
- lack of hunger or desire to snack.
- 3 out of the 9 even said that they would continue taking ACV even after the designated 2 weeks were over.
Negatives of ACV
Now there were some downsides as well from drinking the apple cider vinegar.
- Number one downside was the taste.
- And although most said it helped settle their stomach, there was one that felt like it aggravated her stomach each time she drank it.
- And although most felt like it was an appetite suppressant, there was one that said her sweet tooth skyrocketed after taking it,
- and another that felt she could indulge in more treats because the healthy drink would balance it out. (And on a side note, she didn’t actually gain weight. So maybe it did help a little in that aspect.)
And just for fun. Check out this Video of Cherie drinking Apple Cider Vinegar:
So you will probably be disappointed if you think that you will lose weight just by drinking any sort of an Apple Cider Vinegar Drink.
But, with the cost being so low, it might be worth the other benefits that it can provide.
And if paired well with other healthy habits, (like exercise), who knows, it might help with weight-loss as well.

Now, the great thing about having a group of us do this, is that we can learn from what we did wrong, just as much as we can learn from what we did right.

I have been taking Braggs for 1 week in the morning and at night. I can see and feel the difference . I had a co-worker doing it and I thought it was crazy until I seen her body fat just fall off. She was about 180 when she started she was about 135 when she told me what she was doing. I would see her drinking it with a straw daily. It works. Now I am motivated.

I have been using ACV for four weeks and have lost 11 pounds. I didn’t have water weight to lose when I began so it’s true weight loss. I am type 2 diabetic and watch my diet very carefully. This is actually melting fat off my body. Maybe you ladies should try it again but add restricted calorie diet with the ACV. What have you got to lose? Pardon the pun.

Yay! I am so glad to hear that apple cider vinegar helps with weight loss for some people! I agree, and think the key to using acv for weight loss, is to combine it with a good diet.

Apple cider vinegar helps prevent disease by reducing glucose levels and therefore insulin spikes after carbohydrate-rich meals. When insulin is produced and released into the body in large amounts, leading to spikes, some tissues and organs begin to reduce their response and need even more insulin to store the same amount of glucose. This process is called insulin resistance, which, if not reversed, can be a symptom of type 2 diabetes. Decreases joint stiffness: Apple cider vinegar improves stiffness as acetic acid has a chelating action, eliminating mineral crystals that are deposited in the joints. Improves digestion: This benefit is due to the ferment of apple cider vinegar fermented and rich in enzymes, so it lasts less time retained in the stomach and can also improve acidity and reflux. Protects the liver: Apple cider vinegar contains malic, lactic and citrus that help liver health and also make it more effective in processing toxins, helping the body eliminate them more quickly. Good for the skin: A tablespoon of diluted apple cider vinegar in a 300 ml glass of water can be used as a tonic for the skin. This mixture helps reduce excess skin fat and also acne.

Y’all, this is great, I love the honesty! Just a tip though, always mix acv with water before drinking. It’s super acidic and can cause damage to teeth and esophagus After an extended period of time!
