If you are like me, you have a giant sweet tooth. I mean GIANT.

And, if you are like me, you may be constantly fighting that sweet tooth urge so you can live a healthy (possibly skinnier) life.

I have tried dozens of diets in my lifetime, and I’d like to think that I learn something from each experience.

NOTE: Before starting any diet, I have to track it in order to know it works, and you should to! This is as easy as keeping a blank paper by your scale, and writing down your daily weight. If you want to be a little more organized, grab this WEIGHT LOSS TRACKER that I use from ETSY. It has 8 options depending on your goal, with tracking papers as little as one week, and going up to 60 days or 50 pounds. It is essential to my success! Use the code WEIGHTLOSS and you can get it for less than 2 bucks. . . Totally worth it!

The Flat Belly Diet

Well, the big thing I took away from trying the ‘Flat Belly Diet’, was to not feel guilt about eating chocolate.

The Flat Belly Diet had a 4x4x4 rule: Four meals, Four hours apart, with Four hundred calories each. It is a calorie-restricted diet, but their big secret was to eat a high amount of MUFA with each meal.

MUFA stands for Mono-Unsaturated-Fatty-Acid. So, Healthy Fats. It included olive oil, nuts, seeds, olives, avocados, AND Chocolate Chips!

The idea behind it was that if you had a serving of the healthy fats, it would keep you satisfied and you would not be tempted to cheat.

And you know what? It worked!

It is by far the happiest diet I have ever been on, and I lost about 2 lbs. a week doing it.

In the end, the food bill was too expensive, and it was really hard being on a different eating schedule (time-wise and food-wise) than my family, so I couldn’t do it long term.

But! I loved, LOVED eating the semi-sweet chocolate chips desserts with no guilt. AND I still lost weight.

Their serving size was 1/4 Cup.

So here is my one tip.

Buy a huge bag of Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips.

Put the bag in the freezer.

restrain from eating the not-so-good for you foods that you are tempted with.

Because at the end of the day, you have a reward.

It’s 1/4 C. of Chocolate Chips. Frozen.

After everything is done for the day, and you are ready to relax, grab a 1/4 Cup, fill it with frozen chocolate chips, sit down and watch your favorite show, or stare out into space, while eating one chip at a time.

It is so satisfying to do this! before I would get to the end of the chocolate chips, my sweet tooth would be satisfied, but of course i’d finish it anyways. And I wouldn’t need anything else for the rest of the night! It really is that great.

To make it even more guilt-free, try these sugar-free Chocolate Chips. I’m very particular about my sugar alternatives, and these are sweetened with erythitol, which works well for me.

Along with good fats and antioxidants, there have been plenty of studies done about the health benefits and risks of eating chocolate. This is a good link to see both the pros and cons https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/270272.php

So go ahead, try this tip out, and hopefully it helps to keep you on track for a healthy and happy you!

I love the diet too - however, I just looked at the label on Nestles toll house semi-sweet chocolate chips - there is not any good fat - 1 tablespoon of them has 13% of your saturated fat (2.5 grams)! I don't get it. I've been eating these while trying to diet and continued after great success with the diet. Not good for you or me?

I found the same thing. I switched over to lily's chocolate chips, and have been really happy with them.
