Does Ginger really help in Weight Loss?

Ginger is a natural anti-oxidant, it can balance blood sugar, and it is known to aid weight loss.

Here at Try It Diet Sisters, we scour the internet looking for the most exciting diets to try.

One that I see over and over and over again, goes something like this.

“Take this drink and the weight will just melt off your body!”

I am a sucker for this. Every. Single. Time.

I struggle with weight loss. This is why I started the blog in the first place. If counting calories don’t work (which it doesn’t for me. I am a stable, and healthy eater) then there HAS to be something out there that can work.

There are a lot of these “fat melting” drinks out there, but most of them that had one common ingredient:

Ginger.

So I decided to TRY IT!

Trying Ginger for 30 days

I tried Ginger tea on its own for 4 days, followed by ginger with lemon, followed by ginger with lemon and garlic (not my fave), followed by ginger and cinnamon, followed by ginger and lemon and cinnamon and parsley.

For instance, this is just one of the drinks that I followed: http://lifeatfit.com/articles/fat-burn-recipe-for-lose-weight-45-pounds-in-3-weeks/

As soon as one drink ran out, I made another one.

In conclusion, I drank just under a month’s worth of homemade ginger water, twice a day (sometimes even more with sips throughout the day). And guess what?!

My fat is still in the same place.

No melting for me.

But!

Were there other good side affects to taking Ginger Daily?!

Not that I found.

During this time I was even fighting a particularly nasty Yeast Infection. And it did nothing to fix it. Since both stopped at about the same time, I almost suspected that it aided the infection.

But that’s crazy right?!

The only good thing I found, was that my 2-year-old loved the ginger and cinnamon, and called it soda, and was thrilled that I was willing to give it to him. And since I’d rather give him this water than juice or soda, that could be considered a win.

All in All. I am really disappointed to bust this myth.

I really want to find something that could give my healthy lifestyle that extra nudge to get me back to my pre-baby weight. But this isn’t it.

I have seen a few other ‘drinks’ that I am willing to try. Like ground up Avocado Seeds, Tumeric, and a few others.

I am still hoping there is something out there for me!
