I am so excited about this find! A probiotic kefir drink that is keto and dairy free! How awesome is that!?
I am a big fan of gut health and probiotics (especially kefir drinks). After my C-section, it was important that I rebuild all the good gut bacteria that I had lost due to the antibiotics from the birth.
Why are Probiotics so important?
We are not the only living thing inside our body.
Inside us, there is a whole world of microscopic organisms that live simbiotically with us. If we give them the right environment and food, they will give us protection from a lot of different kinds of sicknesses.
Win/Win.
But sometimes there are bad organisms that overpower us, and we need antibiotics to kill it. . . But the downside is, that it kills the good bacteria as well as the bad.
So what that means, is that if we want our body working in harmony again with the good bacteria, we NEED to put the good bacteria (probiotics) back into our body.
That is where Kefir Comes in to play
My little one was also allergic to dairy, so I couldn’t get it through the usual, yorgurt-ish ways.
I found out about water-kefir, then found this brand Kevita that uses it. I would occasionally buy some at the store for an immune boost.
But then I went Keto, and the kinds I tried (lemon ginger) (lime mint coconut) had higher carbs than I was willing to use.
I was at the grocery store, Kroger, and I was looking again at them, and found Lemon Cayenne. It has only 1 gram of carbs! and it was sweetened by stevia! Score!!

.. . except for the cayenne part. I am not a fan of cayenne. Growing up, my parents swore by it’s healing properties, and encouraged us to gargle with it when we had sore throats. (BTW I take cayenne pepper pills everyday now. Check out why Here)
Man, taking cayenne pepper in water buuurns!
But I was feeling particularly brave that day, and decided to buy the Lemon Cayenne probiotic kefir drink, and give it a try.
The kefir drink didn’t burn my throat at all!
This kefir drink is naturally carbonated, so there was that bubbly sensation, but all in all it was pretty dang good! (i’m not the biggest fan of carbonation)

I even dared my 3 kids to try it, and I wish I had captured the surprised smiles on each of their faces. They were expecting it to be terrible, but they all 3 asked for more! (11 yrs, 8 yrs, 2 yrs).
I didn’t find this specific drink at walmart when I went looking for it.
but they do have a six pack online you can buy
UPDATE!!!
Amazon seems to be out of the Lemon Cayenne. But there is still hope!
This is the Kevita website and it has a store locator and you can search for specific drinks near you.
