Trying out the first week of the meal replacement program OPTAVIA. Here are my results!
I’m currently in my last term for my Master’s and am crazy busy with school. I’ve never been able to find the time to really learn how to cook, much less make healthy meals, but I know that I really need to get myself back into shape… so this is how I’m trying it.
Choosing A Meal Replacement Program
I didn’t find OPTAVIA, rather it seemed to find me. My sister Chalae and I currently live together and have both struggled with finding time, energy, or just plain knowledge to make our own food. So, instead, we usually would grab our keys and head to In ‘N Out. When Chalae suggested OPTAVIA, I was all for it. No matter how good burgers and fries are, they just weren’t as satisfying as they once were.
We started this meal replacement program from OPTAVIA on February 3rd, 2024. The program is a simple 5×1 set up, where you have 5 of their premade snacks (they call “Fuelings”) a day, and then you make 1 healthy meal. You eat every 2-3 hours and drink plenty of water. This is supposed to help you not be hungry, as well as give your body the nutrients it needs to burn fat and thrive.
I’ve tried this program for one full week and these are my results:

Starting weight: 271
End of week 1 results: 258.8
That means I am down 12.2 pounds in one week! And I can already see a difference in my body!

Why I Chose A Meal Replacement Program
Normally when trying a new diet, I am craving everything that I can’t have. Mostly fries, brownies, or even the oatmeal cookies that I usually find disgusting. I want anything and everything that I can’t have on the diet. This time, though… it was different.
Because this program has us eat every 2-3 hours (which is significantly more than I usually eat), there was no time to feel hungry or crave something crazy.
Since OPTAVIA has many incredible options to choose from, there is always something that can satisfy my palate. It could be the BBQ crisps (basically little Cheetos but BBQ flavored), the cinnamon roll in a cup, or my personal favorite the chocolate brownie with Greek yogurt chips.

I have to admit, seeing the numbers go down so much on the scale made me incredibly happy. With a new diet, it always does! But in the past, I would justify the uncomfortable quench in my stomach by the number on the scale (like I did with this diet). I didn’t have to do that this week.
So far with OPTAVIA, there has been no hunger (unless I wait too long), and I have had more energy to actually complete my daily and weekly goals without burning out.

I have never seen my personal results like this while feeling as good throughout the week as I felt. In the past, I always felt like I had to sacrifice something in order to get into the shape I really wanted. Now, it doesn’t feel like a sacrifice at all.
Plenty To Eat
I am eating more than I did before, since I usually only ate one meal that was fast food. I am more conscious of the water I am drinking and how much my body needs. I am also learning how to cook quick and easy healthy meals for the first time in my life.
This program is absolutely perfect for me right now, and I’m excited to keep updating you on this journey.
