My Hubby bought the Sunny health and fitness twister stepper exercise machine for Christmas about a year ago.

I know, I know, there is the “don’t buy her anything that tells her she needs to lose weight” rule.

But that is kind of ridiculous. If that’s what she wants. get it for her!
In my case, that is what I wanted.

We had just moved into a small house with no extra space, and I was incredibly frustrated with not being able to lose the baby weight.

And I knew we couldn’t get anything big or bulky to help with exercise. So he researched compact exercisers, and decided to buy this one.

The Sunny Health and Fitness Twister Stepper

Things I love about it (Pros)

  • It’s Cheap! it’s in the 40-60 $ range. which is awesome!
  • It’s portable. although it’s a good 15 pounds, it’s easy to move from one place to another.
  • It’s small. I don’t have enough room for an ‘exercise’ space. And his can fit in a small corner, under a table, under a bed, etc.
  • Feel the Burn! I can feel it working on my legs after about 15 seconds working on it.
  • It has adjustable tension.

What I don’t like about it (Cons)

  • The range of motion isn’t impressive.
  • The arm bands are really short. I’m 5’7 and all I can do is mini bicep curls. I would have loved to do chest curls, or overhead curls with them as well.
  • The timer was not automatic. it’s not connected to the machine, so it couldn’t keep track of steps or anything like that. Also it clips and unclips. And my kids took and lost it very quickly.
  • The tension on it’s easiest level is still too hard. It is hard to push down with your legs. There is no way you can get a good speed going with the way it goes slower the more your push down.
  • I can’t use it for more than 10 minutes tops. it ends up being more of a weight machine than a cardio.

How I use it successfully.

With all this being said. I still use the Sunny health and fitness twister stepper daily. (and my kids jump on it during the day too, so there’s that.)

I use it as a tool to help with an HIIT circuit. If you are not familiar with this style of exercise, it stands for High Intensity Interval Training. The idea is that you exercise hard for short bursts, then rest for half the time then hard bursts again. you can have an effective workout with this method in as little as 4 minutes a day.

I keep the Sunny health and fitness twister stepper in the kitchen.

I get on it and count to 50 reps. then I get off, do a quick project, get back on, 50 reps, get back off, etc.

Even if it’s not back to back, I try to get on it 4-5 times a day.

In this way, it usually takes me less than 2 minutes at a time, and I can feel the effects on my legs and my heart when I do it.

But I actually don’t use the arm bands very often because I cannot get a good rhythm with the stepping and arms together.

Sometimes I will pull the machine over to the couch and use the bands when I sit down, but not very often.

So you see, it’s not a total failure, it can be used to help with exercise goals. But if you wanted to use it as a replacement for a treadmill or an elliptical, you might be better off buying something a little more expensive.
