I tried the lemon detox diet and it taught me something about myself.
I have always said that I could do anything for a short time. I can deal with work because I know it will end, I can handle whatever other people’s kids throw at me because they will eventually go home, and so on. But I can not drink lemon water for 2 weeks!
I am not a fan of lemon water.
I hate it at restaurants. However, going off my previous statement, I decided to try it.
The first day it wasn’t so bad. There wasn’t much water and I could drink it quick and move on.
Same with day 2.
Day 3 got even better because I got a lemon press to make squeezing them easier, and I decided to strain out the pulp and seeds.
Day 4 was a little rough. I had errands and running around and I only got in the first half in the morning.
Day 5 I had to push myself hard just to do it. I did 3 lemons with 3 cups of water because that’s what my water bottle could hold and figured I would do the rest before dinner. I didn’t get the rest in. Life happened.
Which brings me to day 6. I broke.
I couldn’t force myself to do it. I tried to work up the inner strength to push on but it wasn’t there. I realized that it was 2 in the afternoon and I hadn’t eaten yet for the day because I didn’t want to drink the lemon water first.
That’s when I gave up.
I also noticed that my weight went up a bit. 2-3 lbs in a few days, when it hadn’t moved more than ounces in 6 months. It was off putting.
Plus side, my weight did go back down after I stopped. Even dropped a few extra lbs.
Starting weight 292. Ending weight 289.
