Losing weight with Avocado toast is a big deal right now. It is simple, sleek, and avocadoes make beautiful pictures. But can it actually help you lose that weight?

As everything with dieting and weight loss, the answer is . . . It depends. . .

First let’s talk about the two main ingredients in avocado toast.

Avocadoes for weight loss

Avocadoes have been deemed ‘healthy fat’. And is now slipped into all sorts of diets. It works with keto, paleo, vegetarian, vegan, whole30, low carb, calorie counting etc.,. . . pretty much any diet except for a ‘low fat’ diet.

What does healthy fat mean, and why should you eat it?

We are finally understanding that all fats are not bad. Actually, fats are essential for a healthy body. In the science world, they even call it “Essential Fatty Acids,” essential being the keyword here. We need fat for life. Each and every cell has a lipid (fat) membrane (wall) surrounding it. The wall is soft and moveable, helping catch and bring in nutrients and hormones.

I said the cell wall was soft and moveable, but that is not necessarily true. Your body will make cells out of the materials they have available. If they have healthy fats, then they can use those fats to build soft, moveable cell walls. If the body has to use unhealthy, trans-fats, it actually makes the walls hard. And if that happens, then nutrients doesn’t come in easy, and worse than that, is the mechanisms that catch the necessary hormones that each cells needs, can actually get twisted as they are pushing out of the hard wall, and won’t be able to catch the hormones.

What is one of the things that hormones control? Weight loss.

So yes. Eating avocadoes, in a cellular level, can help with weight loss.

Next thing to mention about healthy fats, is that our bodies actually expend fat as energy pretty efficiently, as long as it doesn’t have to expend extra inefficient energy first, like alcohol, or carbs.

It is a slow, steady burn, so you can feel fuller, longer. Therefore you might find you don’t eat as often, or eat as much if you eat avocadoes. You might also find your energy lasts longer, and you don’t feel a crash in the middle of the day.

Protein in Avocadoes.

Avocadoes have a decent amount of protein as well. Again, in the science world, they call protein “essential amino acids”. Protein is this incredible nutrient, that can be dissembled into individual amino acids, and can be used in all sorts of different places, even as energy if need be.

Toast with avocadoes.

Now lets talk about the second ingredient in avocado toast.

Toast.

I’m just about to get really unpopular.

There is a really good chance that you are hurting your body by eating toast. And it doesn’t matter what you put on it. Studies have shown that most wheat doesn’t want to be eaten, and has toxins in it that makes it indigestible, and if it is ingested, it creates an immune response in the body, where the cells puff up to protect it. puffed, inflamed cells, don’t get all the nutrients it needs. And therefore starves.

if you want to use toast. I suggest sourdough bread. the process of souring the dough actually breaks down that part of the wheat that doesn’t agree with our digestive system.

Or consider using a gluten-free bread.

Or consider not using toast at all with your avocado toast.

I make fried eggs in the morning with avocado slices and salsa on top. it is delicious and has so much more good things going for you than toast!

I have tried an egg fast diet. . . I’m not particularly recommending it. It is pretty rough to get through. But I found if I just make eggs and add avocadoes, I’ll lose the same amount of weight (which is a lot btw) and it tastes way better.

Losing weight with avocado toast may not be the perfect way to lose weight. But it is a heck of a lot healthier than sugary cereal of syrupy waffles! So be happy for making a healthy choice today!
