Starting your morning with a healthy breakfast can change the outcome of your entire day. Here are the 5 best breakfast ideas to take you from sugary cereal, to savory eggs. . . And you’ll like it!
I have been making a conscience effort to eat healthily every day for over 20 years. I can testify that what I eat first, makes a difference of what I eat for the entire rest of the day.
When I start with sugary carbs, my body and mind can’t seem to get enough of it, and after an hour or so, I find myself back into the kitchen wanting more. But if I start with a protein-rich, non-sugary breakfast, I can go without thinking about food till my stomach literally growls for my next meal. I stay focused and happy throughout the day.
As a mom, I have become more and more aware of this phenomenon with my children. . . Especially with my more active 6 year old. He is so bright, so smart, so energetic! But he has been eating sugary cereal for breakfast everyday since he was weaned. I started switching up his breakfasts, starting with oatmeal, then oatmeal with chia seeds, then homemade yogurt parfait, then egg breakfasts. . . And although he still has all the energy that I love, his focus is incredible, and his emotional breakdowns have almost completely disappeared.
So here are the 5 breakfasts I suggest starting with to help slowly train your body to leave behind the sugar cravings and to embrace high protein meals.
Quick and Healthy Breakfast Ideas
No matter what time of year it is, it is a wonderful time to work on your health. The more
you focus on nutrition in your life, the healthier you are going to be. While health itself is
subjective, there is no arguing that getting more nutrients, vitamins, and minerals in your
food is thew ay to go.
Starting with breakfast, here are some easy, quick, and healthy breakfast ideas.

Your Own Yogurt Granola Parfait
If you are changing you breakfast from high sugar cereal. I suggest starting with Granola and yogurt. This will give you an easy, sweet, cool breakfast like you are used to, but will cut your sugar intake dramatically.
Granola is made up of (usually) Oats, honey, and nuts. Oats are considered a natural whole grain, far superior than corn, and has greater fiber than white flour. Honey has more nutrients than white sugar, and nuts have a high complex of healthy, essential fats, and essential proteins. (check out my list of my favorite sugar-free, low carb granola)
Add the granola into a natural, plain yogurt, with a little bit of fruits on top, and you have a satisfying, almost dessert-like breakfast that will keep you going till lunch.
Oatmeal, and then Overnight Oats with Chia Seeds
Next step, now that you are used to granola, try “hot granola”. . . which is really just oatmeal. I use Overnight oats with chia seeds. I cannot begin to tell you how important Omega 3 fatty acids are to our brains and our bodies, and chia seeds are one of the natural, vegetarian-friendly ways of getting it into our diet.
This is well worth trying.
Breakfast Smoothies or Protein Shakes
Do you think you are ready to try something that doesn’t require chewing? Try Smoothies or protein shakes. These are great for drinking your breakfasts on the go!
If you have enough time to throw ingredients in a blender, you have enough time for a
protein shake or smoothie for breakfast. This allows you to control every ingredient you
use, boosts your nutrition, and can be done in just a few minutes. You can also make
them the night before and just grab them as you head out the door in the morning. A good protein blend is important, then keeping fresh or frozen fruit, honey, and a yogurt, kefir, or milk on hand makes this an easy thing to make!

Different Types of Toasts
Ready to move on to savory breakfasts? Try Loaded toasts!
I personally have to be careful with the grains I eat. I do so much better with gluten-free breads, or even a low carb 90 second bread made from sunflower seeds.
But loading these up with avocadoes, and fresh herbs on a cream cheese spread. . .yum
Eggs, Eggs, and More Eggs For A Healthy Breakfast!
Final step, is the famous eggs!
Eggs are one of the best foods for breakfast time because they are easy and only take
a few minutes. In 5 minutes or less, you can have over-easy, fried, or scrambled eggs.
Just about anyone can make really good eggs, since they only take a few minutes and
it’s easy to tell when they’re done. Scrambled eggs are probably easiest for people
brand new to cookies, but if you want to make them ahead of time, try a quiche in the
oven.
I have made eggs in so many different ways in my life, you should try softened cream cheese, with salsa on top of eggs. Or scramble it with precut onions and veggies with cheese to make a delicious scramble.
I hope you have noticed how with each step in eating, how much better you feel overall when you start your day right!
